Thingyan Cold Rice | သင်္ကြန်ထမင်း

Thingyan Rice သင်္ကြန်ထမင်း is a traditional dish of Mon people who are one of the major ethnic groups of Myanmar as well as an ancient civilization. Despite its origin from Mon State, the dish is now well accepted by other ethnic groups including Bamar people. It represents the symbol of the New Year Festival which is celebrated in the middle of the summer. Its recipe is most suitable for the hottest days of the season, as steamed rice is served in cold water.
