About us

Why do we name this place “Café Salween”?

Salween is Than Lwin River in Burmese language and is one of two major rivers flowing through the country. It flows from Tibetan Plateau through China, Thailand and the Shan Hills of Myanmar, into the Andaman Sea near the city of Moulmein through the Gulf of Mottama. It is one of the longest free flowing rivers in Asia – signifying energy, dynamism and creativity, representing our core values.

Café Salween is established and managed by a team of committed and passionate individuals with working experience in global organizations. All the founding partners are passionate about the industry. After we have spent years living abroad, we came back to Myanmar and we could hardly find bars or cafes that meet our expectations. The fact that we were “angry customers” ourselves, has led us to start our own F&B business in Yangon. We aspire to grow into an F&B business group offering quality coffee, food and desserts while bringing together international touches and local concepts.
